Sacramento CERT was deployed to the Camp Fire November 11th through the 17th to assist the North Valley Animal Disaster Group in sheltering animals at the Chico Municipal Airport. Sacramento CERT also assisted with transport of rescued animals from Paradise to Chico, Gridley, and as far away as UC Davis Vet Med Center.

Hello All,
My name is Alan Thompson, W6WN/WRCT301, and I’m the Public Information Officer for the El Dorado County Amateur Radio Club. I was also working up in Paradise and Magalia to restore Cell Phone service during the week you were there. I heard the Animal Rescue Teams using the W6SCR Repeater and was very interested in what I heard during the rescue efforts.
Since returning to El Dorado County, I’ve worked to implement GMRS Community Radio programs here. We currently have about 400 radios distributed. We also provided comms to assist Teams from the North Valley Animal Disaster Group and Public Agencies here during the CalDor Fire. We don’t currently have an active CERT Program here. I’d be interested in talking with your group, and learning more about your support operations after the Camp Fire. My phone is 530 417 1451 if you prefer to call.
Much good on all of you for the important work you do.
